This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS), which wouldn’t be possible without the devotion of its chapters.

Since its inception, NEHS has sought to recognize the outstanding initiative and leadership potential of young students. Joining the ranks of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and the National Honor Society (NHS), NEHS’ first chapters forged new paths within the elementary school community. In fact, many are still doing so today—191 of them, to be exact.

By remaining active chapters of NEHS, these 191 schools displayed unmatched commitment to the empowerment of young students, guiding them into service-based leadership and academic drive. The principals, advisers, and school communities of each original chapter are an example of what NEHS strives to be—and we would not be here 10 years later without their dedication.

But whether this is your 10th year or your first, chapters like yours are what make a meaningful difference for NEHS and for young students across the country. Recognizing the accomplishments of the whole child, including as a student, family member, and community member, your NEHS chapter sets the stage for success in their current and future education.
